Biography

Bob Walrave is an Associate Professor of Modeling Innovation Systems at Eindhoven University of Technology. His research interests are centered around strategic decision making in dynamically complex situations within the context of innovation management and entrepreneurship. He is particularly focused on modeling innovation systems within public and private organizations. Bob employs longitudinal research approaches to answer ‘how’ questions, developing process theories and intervention mechanisms through system thinking and system dynamics modeling. His work includes identifying potentially destructive dynamics that arise from the interaction between executive and non-executive top managers when implementing new innovation strategies, as well as managing alignment challenges during complex new product development initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders. Bob is also passionate about education, teaching and supervising students, practitioners, and policymakers in the areas of innovation management, strategy, systems thinking, and system dynamics modeling. He has held positions as a visiting professor at the University of Antwerp and has published in leading journals such as Journal of Management Studies, Research Policy, and Industrial and Corporate Change.
