Dr. Bobby Xinyue

Biography

Bobby Xinyue completed a PhD in Classics at University College London, awarded in 2014, and a Master's degree in Greek and Latin Language and Literature from the University of Oxford in 2010. He has held teaching positions at University of Exeter, University of Warwick, King's College London, and University of Cambridge. He was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow from 2018 to 2022 and has held visiting research positions at the University of Virginia in the US and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Austria. His research interests include Augustan poetry, Latin literature, Roman political thought, Humanist Latin literature from c. 1450-1650, and the reception of Graeco-Roman antiquity. Additionally, he teaches Greek and Latin literature and Roman history, focusing on the reception of Graeco-Roman antiquity and the Renaissance. His publications include significant works such as 'Politics Divinization Augustan Poetry' with Oxford University Press in 2022 and the edited volume 'Temporalities, Texts, Ideologies: Ancient Early Modern Perspectives' with Bloomsbury in 2024.
