Biography

Bogdan Perzyński is a Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin, where he co-founded interdisciplinary arts programs. His expertise spans studio art with a focus on Transmedia, and he has profound insights into the evolving questions surrounding the interdisciplinary character of art, philosophies of communicative action, social pragmatism, and individual invention. Perzyński's academic journey began with law at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, Poland, followed by an education in architecture and fine arts at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań, where he earned his graduate degree in fine arts in 1979, specializing in Painting and Drawing. Over the decades, he has engaged in art practices that probe inquiries into surface, volume, and modularity, seeking common roots with principles of both art and non-art disciplines. His research trajectory includes an expansion into real-time systems, performative work, and social interventions. He has explored themes in video, interactive code, and computer vision within architectural settings, with presentations of his works in countries including Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Greece, Israel, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Thailand, and the United States.
