Dr. Bonnie Freeman

Biography

Bonnie Marie Freeman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at McMaster University. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and has extensive practice experience that is deeply rooted in Six Nations and Indigenous communities across Canada and the United States. Dr. Freeman's academic and community engagement focuses on Indigenous journeys and the complex intersections of social work and Indigenous studies. She has been appointed as an Indigenous Scholar Community Member at the McMaster Indigenous Research Institute, which reflects her commitment to advancing Indigenous research and scholarship. Dr. Freeman is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations aimed at enhancing the understanding of Indigenous social justice issues.
