Biography

Bonnie Lee Padwa is an Associate Professor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School, specializing in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. She was born in New York City and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. Dr. Padwa completed her undergraduate education at Emory University. She obtained her dental degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1988 and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1990. Following her education, Dr. Padwa completed her residency training in oral maxillofacial surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Children’s Hospital Boston. She is board certified in oral maxillofacial surgery and works as the oral surgeon-in-chief at Children’s Hospital Boston, and actively participates in craniofacial cleft teams. Dr. Padwa has served for six years as the section co-chair for the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and has been the residency program director in the Longwood Medical Area. She is also an editorial reviewer for ten journals and has published over 70 papers, authored textbooks, and lectured worldwide. Her research interests include genetics related to cleft and craniofacial anomalies and the impact of facial growth on surgical outcomes.
