Biography

Boris Gala-Lopez, MD MSc PhD is an Assistant Professor and Chief of the Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Service at Dalhousie University. His research interests focus on improving organ quality for transplantation, developing strategies to ameliorate ischemia-reperfusion injury, and enhancing clinical outcomes in cancer surgery, particularly in multidisciplinary management of liver and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Gala-Lopez's extensive training includes a Fellowship in Multi-Organ Transplant Surgery at the University of Alberta, a Fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery in Coruna, Spain, and an MD from the Havana Institute of Medical Sciences in Cuba. He further holds a PhD in Experimental Surgery from the University of Alberta and an MSc in Medical Informatics from Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Netherlands.
