Biography

Prof. Boris Vexler’s research area focuses on numerical analysis problems described by partial differential equations (PDEs). His work includes developing and analyzing efficient numerical algorithms to solve optimization problems related to PDEs. Prof. Vexler studied at Lomonosov Moscow State University and the University of Heidelberg, where he obtained his doctorate in 2004. He received his lecturer qualification from the University of Graz in 2008. Before completing his doctorate, he worked at the RICAM Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz. In 2008, Prof. Vexler was appointed as a professor of control theory at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He rejected offers from universities in Vienna and Düsseldorf, and in 2013, he was appointed Chair of Optimal Control at TUM. He has served as the speaker for the International Research Training Group IGDK 1754 from 2012 to 2015, and has held the position of dean of studies for the TUM Department of Mathematics.
