Biography

Borislav Tomov received his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in 1996 from the Technical University of Bulgaria. After serving obligatory military service as a radar technician from September 1996 to September 1997, he transitioned to a professional role at Petrol Engineering LTD in Sofia, where he worked as a point-of-sale system designer until June 1999. In September 1999, he joined the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as a research assistant at the Center for Fast Ultrasound. He obtained his Ph.D. from the same center in 2003, focusing on compact beamforming for medical ultrasound scanners. Since then, he has been employed at DTU, contributing significantly to the development of the largest experimental ultrasound scanner in the world, capable of real-time 2D/3D synthetic aperture imaging and vector flow estimation with 1000 channels. His research interests align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting his commitment to addressing global challenges through technological advancements.
