Biography

Boukje Huijben is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Business Model Innovation at the Eindhoven University of Technology, part of the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group within the Department of Industrial Engineering. She is passionate about developing new strategies for sustainable business, integrating insights across various disciplines while working with both academics and practitioners in the Agro-Food, Energy, and Logistics sectors. Boukje teaches a bachelor course on Green Business Models, mentors Innovation Bootcamp Entrepreneurship PhD students, and supervises bachelor and master theses in the field of sustainable business, aligning with ongoing research projects. She earned her PhD from the Department of Innovation Sciences at TU/e in 2015, focusing on the analysis of solar energy business models and entrepreneurial strategies addressing regulatory regimes. In addition, she has worked as a postdoc in the Strategic Area Energy (SAE) at TU/e, investigating business models for energy efficiency products and services with a strong emphasis on the role of end users. Boukje is also a member of the Foundation 'Het Groene Brein' (The Green Brain), which connects scientists and businesses to foster the transition towards a green and sustainable economy.
