Boyd J.G. Strauss graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1973. Strauss has held various academic positions, including Lecturer in Human Nutrition at Deakin University and at Monash University, where he became a Senior Lecturer in Community Medicine in 1993 and later appointed Associate Professor of Medicine in 2001. He has been involved in key administrative roles such as the Physician-in-Charge of the Body Composition Laboratory at Monash Medical Centre and Director of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. In addition to his teaching, he has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers focusing largely on body composition measurements in clinical settings. Strauss is currently based at the University of Manchester, UK, and has contributed to significant research programs related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
