Brad Todd is an artist whose works span various fields of inquiry, primarily involving the research and creation of responsive environments that implicate technology as a mirror and filter, serving as a catalyst for experiences that are significant both individually and within broader socio-political contexts. He received his M.F.A. from Concordia University and began his artistic journey as a musician in the post-punk band Sofa, which released a critically acclaimed album on the Constellation Records label. His work incorporates generative and reactive elements within composed and performative audio sound design, which continues to play a key role in his artistic outputs. Recently, his projects have focused on visualizing and conditioning the invisible and abstract aspects of emergent material, including EMF and infrasonics, while aggregating data from microclimates. His works address explicit political content. Through the use of video, robotics, networks, code, context, and sound, he explores the relationships between computing and the collective private experiences of individuals. Brad has received numerous grants and awards and has exhibited his works in galleries and media festivals across North America, Central America, Asia, and Europe, including renowned events such as the 3rd Beijing International New Media Art Exhibition and Symposium, Eyebeam in New York, Paços das Artes in São Paulo, Brazil, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.
