Biography

Dr. Braden C. Fleming is a Lucy Lippitt Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He joined Brown University in June 2003 after serving seven years on the faculty at the University of Vermont's Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation. Dr. Fleming’s primary research interests focus on the biomechanics of the lower extremity, particularly knee injuries, soft tissue biomechanics, and biomedical instrumentation. His translational research includes projects on graft healing progression and methods to non-invasively monitor healing soft tissues. Dr. Fleming has maintained a NIH-funded research program for over 25 years and is co-director of the Bioengineering Core Center of Biomedical Research Excellence for Skeletal Health and Repair. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the William Grana Award and O'Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award. His research contributions encompass the development of experimental models intended to investigate various aspects of knee ligament injuries and recovery processes, fostering innovative approaches towards treatment and rehabilitation within orthopaedics.
