Brad Hager earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1978 and became a professor at Caltech’s Seismological Laboratory. In 1989, he joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the Cecil and Ida Green Professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS). His research interests include mantle dynamics, the relationship between space-geodetic observations and surface deformation, seismicity induced by reservoir production, and environmental change monitoring. Hager served as the Director of the Earth Resources Laboratory from June 2012 to 2018 and was a member of NASA’s NISAR Science Definition Team, contributing to applications in earthquake studies, hydrocarbon assessment, and carbon sequestration. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has received several prestigious awards, including the Macelwane Medal and the Woollard Award.
