Biography

Bradley Camburn’s current research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance the capabilities of physics-based simulations that support the design process. He has authored 50 peer-reviewed publications and has made key contributions to design science, particularly in ideation and prototyping. Prior to joining the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), he served as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Industrial Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University from 2019 to 2023. Camburn received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015, following a master's degree in the same discipline in 2010, also from the University of Texas. His undergraduate education was at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008. He has previously worked as Chief Engineer at Gilmour Space Technologies, where he led a research and development team in producing the world’s largest single-port hydrogen peroxide oxidized hybrid rocket engine. Additionally, he has experience as a Research Scientist at both the Singapore University of Technology and Design and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology International Design Centre.
