Dr. Bradley Clissold

Biography

Bradley D. Clissold is a Full Professor in the Department of English at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds a BA from York University and both an MA and a PhD from McGill University. His research interests are in Twentieth-Century Literature, focusing on Modernism and Postmodernism, particularly within British and American contexts. He specializes in Literary and Cultural Theory, Cinema and Popular Culture Studies, and Adaptation Practices, integrating Materialist Close Readings into his work. His recent publications include books and numerous articles that explore themes such as the material cultural significance of postcards in modernist literature and contemporary critical reception aesthetics. He has presented widely at conferences, with talks that interrogate the intersections of modernist texts and their socio-cultural implications. In addition to his research, he has supervised numerous graduate theses, providing mentorship in exploring the complexities of contemporary literature and theory.
