Biography

Bram Sengers is an Associate Professor in Bioengineering at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on computational modeling of complex biological problems, particularly in the areas of nutrient and drug transfer across the placenta and promoting bone and cartilage regeneration. He is interested in combining biological experiments with advanced engineering methods to understand complex biological systems and inform medical treatments. Specific research interests include placental nutrient transport and membrane kinetics, strategies for improving tissue regeneration of bone and cartilage, and the mechanisms of cell ingrowth in complex porous biomaterials for tissue repair. Bram employs various techniques, including specifically designed placental perfusion experiments and computational methods, to explore these topics. He has a multidisciplinary research approach and collaborates closely with experimental groups within the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton.
