Biography

Brandon J. DeHart is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Sessional Instructor at the University of Waterloo, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Systems Design Engineering (SYDE). His PhD research, completed in 2019, focused on developing methods and tools to enable dynamic balance and gait in robotic bipeds. He worked on metrics to quantify balance and devised points that determine when a robot needs to step to avoid falling. His MASc research, completed in 2011, involved designing a framework for the interconnection of cellular automata and large-scale interactive art installations. Brandon's work includes collaboration with world-renowned Professor Philip Beesley and emphasizes areas such as robotics, tensegrity structures, bioinspired robot design, interactive architecture, and morphological computation.
