Biography

Brandy Ball Blake serves as the Director of Professional Technical Communication at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. Dr. Blake coaches students in professional writing, presentations, visual design, and data visualization. She primarily focuses on developing and updating the school's communication program to meet the needs of ISyE students and faculty. Drake has worked extensively with students and professors at Georgia Tech, managing the day-to-day operations of the Communication Center, and developing initiatives to help STEM students improve communication skills. Her current research centers around engineering science communication and the perceptions engineers have about their culture, shaping how they communicate. Dr. Blake teaches courses related to communicating science and technology to public audiences, and currently offers a special topics course to help ISyE students prepare their pre-proposals for senior design projects.
