Biography

Brandy Callahan is an Associate Professor and a Chair of the CIHR Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Adult Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Calgary. She is a Full Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research. Dr. Callahan completed her B.A. in Psychology at McGill University in 2007, followed by a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Université Laval in 2014. Her research focuses on understanding dementia and healthy brain aging, with a strong emphasis on improving the diagnosis of neurocognitive disorders. She employs a combination of neuropsychological methods, neuroimaging, neuropathology, and genetics to elucidate the manifestations and etiology of cognitive changes occurring in mid to late life, especially in adults with psychiatric conditions. Her current research investigates the early signs of dementia in older adults with bipolar disorder, as well as the mechanistic processes underlying the relationship between ADHD and dementias.
