Biography

Brenda Lyshaug is a Senior Lecturer in the School for International Studies at Simon Fraser University. She teaches courses on a range of topics, including introduction to international studies, humanitarian intervention, political resistance and protest, and ethics in war. Her long-standing interest lies in gender identity politics, and she has taught extensively in interdisciplinary programs that encompass international studies and gender studies, within the discipline of political science. Her current research focuses on the ethics of war in relation to theories of pacifism and nonviolence. One of her ongoing projects evaluates the use of military force for humanitarian purposes. Brenda has published articles in journals such as Contemporary Political Theory and Gender & Politics.
