Biography

Brendan Burke is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Greek and Roman Studies at the University of Victoria. He received his PhD from UCLA and specializes in Greek archaeology and Aegean prehistory. As the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Classical Studies at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, his research has focused on ancient economies, particularly in the realm of textile production in ancient Greece. In addition to his academic work, Burke has played significant administrative roles in various archaeological institutes and committees, enhancing collaboration and research opportunities in classical studies.
