Professor Dr. Brendan Gillott

Biography

Brendan Gillott, born in West Yorkshire, received most of his education at Cambridge. He teaches various literature courses including Paper 1, Practical Criticism, and several others focusing on contemporary writing and American literature. His research revolves around poetry and poetics, with a specific emphasis on modernist poetics, intermedia, the concept of the 'long poem', Dada, and the British Poetry Revival. He has an ongoing book project about John Cage and his approach to what is termed 'anti-art'. Throughout his career, Gillott has contributed significantly to the field of literary theory and has been actively engaged in exploring the connections between poetry and music.
