Biography

Brendan Saltaformaggio serves as the Director of the Cyber Forensics Innovation (CyFI) Laboratory, focusing on advanced cyber crime investigation, analysis, and the prevention of next-generation malware attacks, especially within mobile IoT environments. With research resulting in numerous publications at top-tier cyber security venues, he has received accolades such as the ACM Conference on Computer Communications Security Paper Award and the Student Paper Award at the USENIX Security Symposium in 2014. Initially from New Orleans, he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Science from the University of New Orleans in 2012, and went on to obtain his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Brendan has been recognized with prestigious awards including the 2017 ACM SIGSAC Doctoral Dissertation Award, the Symantec Research Labs Graduate Fellowship, and the inaugural Emil Stefanov Memorial Fellowship. His research interests include Computer Systems Security, Cyber Forensics, Vetting Untrusted Software, Binary Analysis, Instrumentation, and Mobile IoT Security.
