Biography

Brendan Traw is a Distinguished Professor at the Australian National University in the School of Cybernetics. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Before joining academia, Brendan spent 25 years at Intel Corporation as a systems architect and executive, focusing on solving challenges at the intersection of technology, policy, and business. He has received recognition for his contributions as a Fellow of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has been awarded the Intel Achievement Award, which is Intel’s highest honor. His work has led to 34 patents in areas such as content protection, systems architecture, and network security, as well as two Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards in 2009 and 2015. In addition to his academic and professional career, Brendan enjoys hands-on technical challenges and partners in multiple mineral specimen mining projects in the western United States. He is also involved in supervising research students in processes for information delivery and insights extraction.
