Biography

Professor Brent N. Kaiser received a BSc (Agriculture) and MSc (Plant Physiology) from the University of Guelph in Canada and a PhD from the Australian National University specialized in Plant Molecular Biology. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship, Brent worked in various research groups in UBC Canada, Nice France, and Canberra Australia, focusing on molecular regulation of nitrogen transport in plants. He accepted a lectureship at the University of Adelaide in 2003, where he established a research lab dedicated to plant mineral nutrition, specifically nitrogen transport in cereals and nitrogen-fixing legumes. At the University of Sydney since 2015, he established a research group at Camden Campus and directs the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Legumes Sustainable Agriculture. His research involves characterizing the molecular physiology related to nitrogen transport, assimilation, and redistribution in food crops. Brent supervises PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, and teaches in areas such as plant molecular genetics and the physiological responses of plants to environmental adaptation.
