Biography

Brent Moore received his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in 1998, specializing in cognitive psychology with a minor in quantitative methods. Following his education, he served as a project director at Westat, contributing to NIAAA R01 grants that evaluated alcohol studies and community intervention programs. In 2000, he transitioned to a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Vermont, focusing on cannabis use disorder treatments. By 2003, Moore joined Yale University, where his research expanded on improving treatment for opioid use disorders, particularly among HIV-infected populations. In 2014, he was promoted to Research Scientist at Yale, while also working as a Research Psychologist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. His current role involves evaluating educational methods to enhance care for patients dealing with pain and substance use disorders. Over the past 15 years, he has led numerous studies assessing HIV risk behaviors and the adherence to HIV treatments, while also working with the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS. His recent research focuses on chronic pain and its relationship with substance abuse. Additionally, he has been actively involved in various peer review groups and has been elected as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
