Dr. Brent Moritz

Biography

Brent B. Moritz is an Associate Professor in the Supply Chain Management Department at the Smeal College of Business. He earned his PhD in Operations Management from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. His academic journey includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. Prior to obtaining his PhD, Brent gained practical experience in operations and supply chain management with firms such as BorgWarner, Eaton, and Parker Hannifin, and he has international work experience in Mexico, England, and Germany. His areas of expertise include Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and Behavioral Operations. Brent teaches various courses, including SCM 450W, a capstone course for Supply Chain Information Systems majors, focusing on strategic design management within supply chains. The course emphasizes the definition, applications, and integrated logic of supply chain management activities, equipping students with critical knowledge and skills necessary for successful management roles in manufacturing, distribution, and service firms. Brent's academic research and teaching are deeply intertwined, contributing to both academic scholarship and practical applications in the field.
