Biography

Brent Olde is a Principal Enterprise Fellow specializing in Artificial Intelligence Technologies at the University of Southampton. He completed his PhD at the University of Memphis in Experimental Psychology with a focus on Cognitive Psychology in 2002. After earning his degree, he joined the U.S. Navy as an Aerospace Experimental Psychologist, where he engaged in various roles that spanned 20 years. His naval career included positions at the Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute, where he provided research support for personnel selection and developed an adaptive aviation selection test. As an Assistant Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, he taught Human Factors and completed a Master's in Systems Engineering. Brent's contributions at the Naval Air Systems Command involved his work as a Human Factors Engineer on the MQ-C Triton UAV and as a Program Manager at Naval Aviation Training Systems, where he oversaw the evaluation of innovative aviation training technologies. He also led the Human Systems Engineering Department at the Office of Naval Research, managing a team of over 200 personnel and a portfolio of $70M in Science and Technology Programs. His expertise includes the integration of AI in training systems and the enhancement of human factors engineering in naval aviation.
