Biography

Brent W. Roberts is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he holds the Gutsgell Endowed Professorship and is a Center for Advanced Study Professor. He is also designated as a Health Innovation Professor at the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine and serves as a Distinguished Guest Professor at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology at the University of Tübingen, Germany. Roberts received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. He focuses on measurement issues, particularly concerning traits such as conscientiousness and narcissism, and aims to assess social, emotional, and behavioral skills. He has received multiple awards for his work, including the Carol Ed Diener Mid-Career Award in Personality Psychology and the Theodore Millon Mid-Career Award. Dr. Roberts has served as the Director of the Center for Social and Behavioral Science, worked as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Research in Personality, and was the Past President of the Association for Research in Personality.
