Biography

Brent is a Teaching Professor in the Operations Supply Chain Management area at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, where he has been teaching since 2003. He graduated with distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University's Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program in 1997 and later completed an MBA with a major in operations management at the University of Calgary in 2004. He holds a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation obtained from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario in 2000. Brent's prior industry experience includes roles in the automotive, injection molding, and ERP software industries, where he served as an implementation project manager. His teaching focuses on operations management, supply chain management, and project management in both undergraduate and Executive MBA programs. His research interests center on Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL), with a particular emphasis on innovative pedagogical approaches in management education. His work has been published in various prestigious journals, and he has received numerous awards for his teaching and research contributions, including the Outstanding Paper Award from the International Journal of Operations & Production Management in 2010 and the Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award at the EurOMA 2017 conference.
