Biography

Brent Tan received his B.S. in Biochemistry and M.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. He completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Hematopathology at Stanford University, where he now serves as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology. His current research interests include myeloid neoplasms, T cell lymphomas, molecular hematopathology, digital pathology, and laboratory information systems. Tan has extensive board certifications in Anatomic Pathology, Hematology, and Clinical Informatics. He is involved in various academic and clinical appointments, particularly as the Medical Director for Clinical Laboratory Informatics and Point of Care Testing at Stanford Health Care. His scholarly work focuses on applying molecular methods to characterize hematological neoplasms, with current investigations utilizing standard karyotyping, FISH studies, flow cytometry, and gene sequencing for diagnosis and prognosis of hematological disorders.
