Biography

Brett Ford is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto and the director of the Affective Science & Health Laboratory. He completed his doctoral training in social-personality psychology at the University of California, Berkeley after receiving a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in social-personality psychology from Boston College. Brett’s research examines the basic science and health implications of how individuals think about and manage their emotions. His research utilizes multi-method interdisciplinary approaches—experiential, behavioral, and physiological assessments—to investigate the structure of emotion beliefs, the emotion regulation strategies people use, and the cultural, biological, and psychological factors that shape these beliefs and strategies, as well as their implications for health and well-being.
