Dr. Brett Miller

Biography

Brett Miller is a leader in solving hydraulics and water quality problems associated with engineering environments. His expertise is founded on a strong understanding of fundamental fluid mechanics, mathematics, and physical numerical modeling. With extensive experience working in large multi-disciplinary teams, he possesses strong management and communication skills that ensure specialist technical knowledge is comprehensively integrated and understood. Brett has participated in over 50 projects modeling oceans, estuaries, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, with highlights including outfall modeling in Hong Kong and predictive real-time modeling for Sydney Deepwater Outfalls. He is recognized as an international expert in wastewater desalination outfalls and has contributed to multiple aspects such as internal hydraulics, diffuser design, near-field mixing, and far-field dispersion. Brett has also undertaken directed physical modeling for various hydraulic structures and has a degree in Computer Science, which he utilizes in water engineering computing, software development, and database management. He has managed commercial projects and teams at the Water Research Laboratory for 10 years, overseeing project quality, financial operations, and staff development. Furthermore, he is a member of several professional organizations including Engineers Australia and the Australian Water Association.
