Biography

Brett Mitchell is a Professor in the Department of Medical Physiology at Texas A&M University and the Director of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program and the Medical Sciences MS Degree Program. He completed his BA in Health Fitness/Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1995, followed by an MS in Human Physiology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1996. He earned his PhD in Physiology from the Medical College of Georgia in 2003, focusing on endothelial dysfunction and hypertension under the supervision of Dr. Clinton Webb. His postdoctoral work included research at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Brett initially joined Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics before becoming part of Texas A&M University Health Science Center in 2007. He has climbed the academic ranks from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in 2012, and was promoted to Professor in 2020. His research interests encompass Immunity, Inflammation, and Hypertension, aiming to understand the cellular mechanisms leading to endothelial dysfunction in hypertension and other related conditions.
