Biography

Brett Sherrick is an Associate Professor at the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University. He completed his PhD in mass communications from the Pennsylvania State University. Before joining Purdue, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Creative Media at the University of Alabama. Sherrick's research primarily focuses on mass communication and media, with a particular emphasis on new media and video games. His work examines user engagement with media and the outcomes that lead to successful media use. He has published research in prominent journals, including Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, New Media & Society, and Computers in Human Behavior. Notably, his dissertation on the roles of flow and narrative engagement in persuasive health games received the Top Dissertation Award from the Mass Communication Society Division at the 2016 annual conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Promising Professor Award in 2017.
