Biography

Aguado completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford University and obtained his Master and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University. He also received a certificate in Management for Scientists and Engineers from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Aguado completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on developing precision biomaterials aimed at enhancing the understanding of sex differences in cardiovascular disorders and other health conditions. His work has been supported by significant awards including the National Institutes of Health Pathway Independence Award and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Aguado has been actively involved in leadership roles, including serving as the President of the Postdoctoral Association at Colorado and chairing the Young Scientist Group for the Society for Biomaterials. He is also a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the Society for Biomaterials and co-founded LatinXinBME to support Latinx biomedical engineers and scientists professionally and personally.
