Dr. Brian Borsari

Biography

Brian Borsari is an Associate Professor at Brown University with a focus on Behavioral and Social Sciences. He obtained his PhD in clinical psychology from Syracuse University in 2003. His postdoctoral fellowship was completed at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies (CAAS) in 2005. Since then, he has been involved in clinical psychology and research, particularly in relation to substance use and behavioral interventions for college students and veterans. His research includes brief motivational interventions, assessment, and treatment related to behavioral change in individuals struggling with substance abuse and psychological disorders. Dr. Borsari’s work not only aims to understand the mechanisms behind behavior change but also evaluates clinical practices that enhance treatment efficiency and effectiveness. He is currently focused on various research projects aimed at improving treatment engagement among returning veterans and the evaluation of co-morbid substance use disorders. Borsari has published numerous studies in prominent academic journals revealing critical insights into substance use patterns and intervention strategies, especially in educational settings. He maintains professional affiliations with several psychological societies and contributes significantly to training programs and research development in the field of addiction psychology.
