Biography

Brian Coyne is an Advanced Lecturer in Political Science at Stanford University. He received a B.A. in Government from Harvard College in 2007 and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University in 2014. His dissertation, titled 'Non-state Power Non-state Legitimacy,' investigates the roles of powerful non-state actors, such as NGOs, corporations, and international institutions, in holding democratically accountable influences on people's lives. Coyne's research interests encompass political representation, responses to climate change, and the politics of urban space planning. In addition to his work in Political Science, he teaches courses related to Public Policy and Urban Studies at Stanford.
