Biography

Brian J. Gaines is the Honorable W. Russell Arrington Professor of State Politics in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He received a BA with honors from the University of British Columbia, as well as an AM and PhD from Stanford University. His research focuses on elections, electoral rules, and public opinion. Gaines served as co-editor for the Political Methodologist from 2010 to 2013 and held the position of editor for American Politics Research from 2011 to 2015. He has a strong background in athletics, having completed marathons on seven continents.
