Brian German is a professor in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech and the director of the Center for Urban and Regional Air Mobility (CURAM). His research focuses on aircraft electric propulsion, autonomous flight, and the emerging technologies that enable these advancements. He specializes in the configuration design of electric aircraft, aerodynamics of distributed propulsion, modeling of battery and hybrid electric propulsion systems, and operations research concerning innovative scheduled on-demand air services. His work primarily targets the development of new types of electric regional aircraft, particularly eVTOL aircraft for urban air mobility. Professor German has also served as a founding member and chair of the AIAA Transformational Flight Program Committee (2014-2016), which aimed to explore opportunities arising from emerging aircraft electric propulsion autonomy technologies. Furthermore, he is a member of the AIAA Aircraft Electric Propulsion Power Working Group. Professor German's accolades include being a Fulbright student scholar and an NDSEG Graduate Research Fellow, as well as receiving the NSF CAREER award in 2012. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA.
