Biography

Dr. Hutton is a Senior Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute's Clinical Epidemiology Program and an Associate Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. He also serves as an Adjunct Scientist at the Royal Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research. He has researched treatments for latent tuberculosis, industry influence on prescribing practices, and the incidence of preventable adverse drug reactions. Dr. Hutton was awarded a five-year CIHR New Investigator Award and contributed to the development of the PRISMA extension statement for reporting network meta-analyses. His research spans multiple clinical fields, including oncology, mental health, addiction medicine, transfusion medicine, and infectious diseases. Recently, he has investigated the evaluation of interventions for opioid use disorder and the health effects of cannabis consumption, including artificial intelligence applications in knowledge synthesis.
