Dr. Brian Marr

Biography

Brian Marr, MD, heads the Ophthalmic Oncology Service at the Harkness Eye Institute. With comprehensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular tumors, he specializes in procedures such as intraocular tumor resection, laser treatments, radiation, and chemotherapy. Dr. Marr has developed complex treatment plans for various tumors affecting the eye and surrounding areas in both adults and pediatric patients. He is currently a collaborator on a groundbreaking clinical trial at Columbia University involving a new class of drug for treating uveal melanoma. Dr. Marr has been board-certified in ophthalmology since the year 2000 and has focused his career on ophthalmic oncology. His extensive training includes an eight-year tenure at the Ocular Oncology Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and nine years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he gained significant experience in intra-arterial chemotherapy for retinoblastoma. A key member of multidisciplinary teams, Dr. Marr has contributed to the treatment of advanced skull base tumors and complex facial skin lesions. He actively lectures and consults internationally, and he has authored numerous research articles in the field of ocular oncology. Dr. Marr’s expertise is recognized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, where he serves as chief editor for their Oncology Pathology network.
