Biography

Brian Marx is a Professor in the Psychiatry department at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and serves as a staff psychologist at the National Center for PTSD, VA Boston Healthcare System. He graduated with honors in Psychology from Boston University in 1989 and completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Mississippi in 1996. Dr. Marx is an expert in behavioral therapy, PTSD assessment, and the effects of trauma. He has served on the editorial boards of scientific journals and as a grant reviewer for organizations including the National Institute of Mental Health and the Department of Defense. His research primarily focuses on the association between PTSD and functional impairment, PTSD memory, identifying risk factors for post-traumatic difficulties, and developing brief, effective treatments for PTSD. His current research is funded by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. He also engages in mentoring junior psychologists in his areas of expertise.
