Biography

Brian R. Ott is a prominent neurologist, recognized for his work in aging and dementia. He received his B.S. in Biology from Syracuse University in 1975 and completed his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in 1979, where he was awarded the Arthur Krieger Memorial Prize in Neurology. His postgraduate training included a residency in Internal Medicine at Brown Medical School and a Neurology residency at Harvard Medical School. Certified in Neurology and Internal Medicine, he has specialized qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. Since joining the Brown University faculty in 1989, he has significantly contributed to the field of gerontology and health care research. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications focusing on various aspects of Alzheimer's disease and memory disorders, including new treatments and patient quality of life. Currently, he directs the Alzheimer’s Disease & Memory Disorders Center at Rhode Island Hospital, and his research involves clinical trials and the study of cognitive behavioral changes in dementia. A passionate advocate for Alzheimer’s awareness, he has served on the Rhode Island Board of the Alzheimer’s Association and continues to mentor the next generation of researchers in neurology and geriatric care.
