Biography

Brian Travis Rice is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, with a focus on research and applied epidemiology in emergency medicine. He received his MDCM from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in 2008 and completed a preliminary year in Internal Medicine at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at Los Angeles County + USC, graduating in 2012. He furthered his education with a Fellowship in Global Health and International Emergency Medicine at Yale University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, obtaining a Master of Science in Tropical Medicine and International Health and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in 2014. He has worked clinically in various countries including Thailand, Cambodia, Liberia, and Uganda, and has served as a faculty member at NYU/Bellevue before joining Stanford in 2018. His current research efforts focus on medevac utilization by non-physicians in rural Alaska Native communities, alongside his ongoing research in task-sharing in emergency medicine for low- and middle-income countries.
