Dr. Brian Schmidt

Biography

Brian Schmidt is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University, specializing in international relations theory, American foreign policy, and disciplinary history. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Throughout his career, Schmidt has published extensively in the field, including the notable book 'Political Discourse of Anarchy' which was recognized as an Outstanding Academic Book by Choice in 1998. He has also contributed significantly to historiography in International Relations and has written numerous scholarly articles on the subject. Schmidt teaches courses covering diverse topics such as international relations theory, the causes of war, and the role of the United Nations. His academic journey includes previous teaching positions at the State University of New York at New Paltz and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
