Brian Tackett is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University's Davidson School of Chemical Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, obtained in 2013, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, awarded in 2019. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 2019 to 2021. Tackett's research focuses on electrocatalysis and sustainability, specifically the use of renewable electrons from wind and solar power to facilitate the transformation of CO2 into useful chemicals, thus supporting a circular carbon economy. His work involves the study and design of electrocatalysts that enable these transformations, as well as optimizing high-throughput electrochemical processes that can achieve significant reaction rates. Tackett employs surface-sensitive techniques to explore fundamental electrocatalytic processes and monitor catalyst behavior during in-situ measurements. Through his research, he integrates principles of chemical engineering with experimental techniques to contribute to global sustainability initiatives.
