Biography

Brian Tripney is an Associate Research Scientist at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC), bringing expertise in forensic anthropogenic radiocarbon dating. His research interests focus on the development of radiocarbon laboratory capabilities, particularly in relation to biofuels and advancements in SUERC's Radiocarbon Laboratory systems. As a named person responsible for 14C dating programs, he has been involved in significant projects, including grants associated with radiocarbon dating research for Scottish archaeology in collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland since 2013. In addition to his research contributions, Brian plays a pivotal role in educational outreach by organizing laboratory tours for students and schools, as well as coordinating research placements for S5 pupils during summer programs.
