Brice Lecampion is a Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and leads the Geo-Energy Lab under the Gaznat Chair of GeoEnergy. His research focuses on the mechanics of porous media, hydraulic fracturing, and geomechanics, aiming to enhance the understanding of localized discontinuities in the Earth’s upper crust, fluid flow in geomaterials, and applications related to environmental and civil engineering, as well as seismology and tectonophysics. Before joining EPFL, he worked with Schlumberger from 2006 to 2015 in various roles, including project manager and principal scientist, across Europe and the United States. He earned his PhD in mechanics from the École Polytechnique in France in 2002 and previously worked as a research scientist in the hydraulic fracturing research group at CSIRO in Australia from 2003 to 2006. His current research is at the intersection of continuum mechanics and geophysics, contributing to solving energy transition challenges, such as geothermal energy and carbon dioxide storage.
