Biography

Bridget Wade joined University College London as a Professor of Micropalaeontology in 2013. She leads a research group comprising postdoctoral researchers, PhD, and MSc students focusing on Cenozoic palaeoceanography and palaeoecology, particularly involving calcareous microfossils. Wade and her team utilize the chemistry of microfossils to identify patterns related to evolution, extinction, marine temperatures, pH levels, productivity, global ice volume, and sea level changes. Her research has an international scope and includes significant fieldwork in Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. Wade has contributed as a shipboard scientist for various major ocean drilling expeditions and is involved in numerous ongoing research projects aimed at understanding Cenozoic climate change through analysis of planktonic foraminifera. Over the years, she has received numerous accolades for her work, including being elected a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and the Paleontological Society, as well as receiving several prestigious awards.
